Dr. Tara Martin

Tara is a pioneer in the field of Conservation Decision Science – combining predictive ecological models with decision science to inform what actions to take, and when and where to take them. Tara is a Professor in the Department of Forest and Conservation Sciences, at the University of British Columbia and is also a Professor in Practice with The Nature Conservancy. At UBC, Tara leads The Conservation Decisions lab, a team of graduate students seeking to understand, predict and ultimately inform decisions about the impact of global change on biodiversity and the natural world. She is a member of the IUCN Climate Change Specialist Group and co-leads the Climate Adaptation Theme. When not at UBC, Tara lives on Salt Spring Island with her husband and two children.  Her worldview, commitments and delight in nature are informed by Buddhist teachings and practices.  For more on her research visit www.taramartin.org
